I wouldn't be happy because as mentioned in previous comments by myself and others; Every pub in Blackpool would become 'smoking pubs' and we non-smokers would not have a choice where to go. I have been to many pubs since the ban and it has made such a positive difference. I don't have to breathe in toxic fumes, my clothes, skin and hair don't stink of smoke and best of all nice clean smoke-free rooms to eat my food. It is absolutely disgusting trying to eat dinner in a room filled with filthy smoke. Blackpool has tragically high numbers of smokers which don't do our health statistics any good (considering we also have very high rates of druggies, alcoholics and benefit claimants) , so no pub in Blackpool would go smoke-free by choice worried they will lose business. The Government considered this proposal and found it unworkable.

Smoking should have been banned in eating establishments as i have previously mentioned, then people would have an option on what they wanted to do.

I am not telling people they can't smoke full stop. Being a future nurse I would rather people gave up but that is not for me to decide it is up to the individual. But I do fully support the ban especially in food pubs after having to eat dinner in a smoke-filled room in a local pub last year.

Never tell a KID not to do anything they will all ways go and do it. I also think banning things is a dangerous thing to do

I agree completely Peter. Smoking is a good example of this. Because of the age being raised to 18, kids think it's 'cool' to smoke and binge-drink. It is certainly is not. When they have emphysema and chronic liver disease, it isn't so cool then. I think more emphasis needs to be placed on health promotion from a young age. Like with sex education, primary and especially secondary schools should promote the dangers of smoking and excessive drinking a lot more than they do a present.

I can't even remember doing sex education at school......so good knows what they teach these days.
Back to topic: Yes they should have more education on Smoking but with not being at school myself i'm not sure how far they go with the subject.

I'm not too sure how much they teach on it myself. I only left school in 2001 and there was no health promotion at all really, except for a gruesomely graphic slideshow about STIs!!!

I think we maybe had about 1 lesson on sex....
.....but smoking wasn't as common with young children as it is now,so i suppose we didn't have any education on that.
Unless i was skiving when that lesson came about......lol.

Go Hamish ......
I dont smoke and havent done for nine months now . I dont want tosmoke but still get the odd craving ..
I find it much easier to go out to the pub knowing that there will be no smoking although I dont fully agree with the ban.
