Anti-social offences are down over the summer

Leading officers claim that there has been a sharp drop in criminal damage and alcohol-related violent crime.
A POLICE summer campaign to crackdown on anti-social behaviour has been hailed as a success.
Leading officers claim that there has been a sharp drop in criminal damage and alcohol-related violent crime thanks to Operation Summer Nights.
The annual campaign has seen police specifically target under-age drinkers and off licenses who sell to youths.
And police say as a result of the initiative, criminal damage is down by 12.3 per cent, anti-social behaviour is down 2.1 per cent and alcohol related violent crime is down 16.8 per cent.
Insp Dave Barnes said: "We are delighted with the success of the Summer Nights campaign. Since the launch of the operation in 2005, we have seen a reduction in alcohol related crime year-on-year."

Rubbish, absolute rubbish. Anyone who lives on or near Mereside will tell you that's not true. Gangs of kids riding around on scooters and mini-motos all hours of the day and night (I guess they spend their pocket money on tanks of fuel which let's them drive around 24/7), pulling wheelies, weaving between traffic, racing each other, etc, etc. Where are the police? Why are they not issuing Section 59's and seizing these bikes? I can't even remember the last time I saw a police presence in the area. It's a complete and utter joke.
