Allotments

Hi all, a little new to this forum, but not the forum world, I used to run my own forum in Wales. Anyway, recently moved here and am staggered by the waiting list for local allotments here, 3/4 years. With all this money going into regeneration here, surely it can't be too difficult to get more plots, it's actually relatively low cost compared to some projects, all's needed is land, and there's plenty of it in and around Blackpool compared to some places in the UK. Are there any local councillors using the forum who could help make a difference and raise this issue.

Craig, I seem to remember hearing on a TV program with the River Cottage guy that if enough people formally request allotment space then they have to provide it. Sorry I cant be more specific but at a guess if you have a search for River Cottage and allotment you might come up with something.

Yes I remember something to that effect too, I think it was only a handful of people needed, perhaps between 6-10? any volunteers interested in getting such a project off the ground and have our own smallholding?

This really is a way of life, so genuine interest only please!
