They are using all the marketing tricks in the book. The only deal is that for locals they have extended the deadline to buy a unlimited wristband for 2009 till mid December. If you look on the web site they are advertising the same thing for £189.60. So to a certain degree is is a good offer, but it is an offer that was available to everyone till recently.

If I were local it would be an offer I wouldn't be taking up either. I wonder how long it's going to be before they realise they are losing a lot of custom by doing this?

Sometimes I think companies regard not making an increase in profit as some kind of failure. In the present economic climate they ought to be careful of not cutting off their nose to spite their face.

The £99 is a season pass, which entitles you to go to the Pleasure Beach and exchange the pass for a wristband. As the wristbands are approx £20-£30 each time you go, by the time you've been approx 3-4 times, the pass has paid for itself and then you've still got the rest of the year to "enjoy" the Pleasure beach.
I shall be buying two for my kids (aged 12 & 15) as part of the their Christmas presents this year in readiness for next year.
TBH, I think it's very good value if you buy it before the cut-off date.
My eldest son had one 2 years ago and I think he must have had at least £700 worth of wristbands in the time he had his pass.

In my opinion Pleasure Beach activities should be free to outsiders and the locals can pay the extra tax to cover what revenue Blackpool loses on that.
After all us outsiders cant ride the tram for free
Remember Blackpool is basically a tourist trap & if prices keep going up,up & up the holiday maker numbers may dwindle
Holday makers/tourists bring economy to the town, from money they spend, the places they stay & eat, which alone is a fortune ( smirk rip-off )
and Pete the £189.60 internet price for everyone seems awful high and discriminating by offering locals half-price

I agree . This is a good offer if you or the ones your buying it for use the place frequently enough to recoup this cost.
However I can only see residents benifiting from this unless your likey to travel to Blackpool every weekend.
I love the pleasure beach but from rumours I keep hearing it sounds as though they,re in financial trouble . How much truth is in it I dont know but these rumours are becoming more frequent .
Perhaps they should be looking at other ways to win the public over.
On the other hand the queues speak for themselves and this season has been one of the busiest ive seen the place in years and I have never seen queues for BPB like this since I was much younger
