Recycling

I don't know what system you have over in Blackpool but here in Todmorden we have weekly collections from the house-one week it's bottles and cans and the next it's paper-plus the ordinary refuse-with food and plastic bottles every week. Because of the weather we've had recycling outside our house since the 11th of December-we're just off the road to the station.
On Thursday they came and cleared the backlog-about eight bags of paper,a huge bag of plastic bottles,a big box of cans, one of bottles, five weeks food waste and a bag of textiles.
Fair enough so far-give them their due they did take a hell of a lot of stuff away.
Our collection day is Friday-they came round again yesterday when there was nothing out. What a waste of diesel.

I wish I could recycle!!! If you like in a 'Mixed Use' property in Blackpool you cant recycle.
We run holiday flats and as such live in a flat within the building. We pay Council Tax on our flat plus we pay business rates on the rest of the building.
They wont give us wheely bins at all. We get just 50!!! plastic bags for out council tax payments. That is for all our household waste and anything everybody else normally recycles. For our business waste we buy sacks from the Council at about £1.50 each.

I would love to have wheely bins for recycling and normal waste.
I haven't got a clue what you can recycle and what you cant.

That's crackers that is-especially as your council say they want to improve on the current 31.7% recycling.
We're on fortnightly non-recyclable collections(along with most of the country I expect)and we used to throw out 3 sometimes 4 black bags a week-now it's usually 2 per fortnight. The system's fine in theory. I've seen them collect from blocks of flats too-granted it has to be by the kerb rather than outside your own door but where we live there isn't room for boxes and bags-it's a single track road but being registered disabled we had an assessment and they're quite happy to come up a flight of steps for it.
