Blackpool gets more stick
saw this on a forum the other day,
poor old Blackpool getting even more stick !
.....
Blackpool, the once decent UK holiday destination has been getting worse and worse over the last few years. You can't visit the place without noticing how run down, cheap and tacky it's become.
Every time I've been, and I try to avoid it now, I've seen disgusting behaviour in what was portrayed as a family area, what I believed to be human poo in several public places, a hell of a lot of rubbish, the buildings looking like a photo shoot showing the rotting buildings of an abandoned town and a complete decline of numbers.
It now seems that another nail in Blackpool's coffin has been hammered in to place as Pontin's have decided enough is enough and are also leaving.
What's left for this dying place?
It's the kind of place where you feel you have to wipe your feet as you leave the sea front and 'entertainment' area. You keep your family close and are watchful of the people who constantly approach trying to sell crap and dodgy raffle tickets. I don't wish to put the place down, but who killed Blackpool and left it to rot?

Have n't Labour now decided against Blackpool for the annual
conference ?
(maybe thats not such a bad thing ? )
The Los Vegas option could have turned things around
but looks like thats down the pan....
Maybe Richard Branson will step in ?

Good riddance pontins - really too close to Blackpool me thinks where peeps are likely to be more enjoyable outside rather than inside.

Rhyl is supposed to be having a multimillion facelift but in the end that will probably be lots of new appartments and flats and lots more money for rich landlords.
Rhyl is probably a lot further down the pan than Blackpool
at least Blackpool did have its heyday.. its day in the sun
its got the Tower, the ballroom , the theatres , the three wonderful piers
What has Rhyl got ? .... not a lot !.... not even a pier !

Blackpool is Blackpool, dont try to change it to something it ain't
Other seaside places have good & bad points - even Rhyl or Southport which can or is tacky in comparison
Then there are more & more Brits think going to Spain is the way to holiday or live.
Turn back the clock & holiday at home - at least it doesn't appear to rain as much, nor have the smog & fog like bygone days
All together now .... O' I do like to be besides the seaside, O' I do like to be beside the sea

Seems to me whoever wrote that obviously hasnt been here for a while and seen the improvements.
For one .. Blackpool is in my opinion on the way up both on cleanliness and modernisation.
The sea front is beginning to look fab as is the town centre. Granted there are still delapidated looking buildings on the back street but krikey!!! works got to start somewhere before it can complete.
This guy (or woman) Must have been following certain tourists around on the beach , because thats the only time I have ever seen human poo in the town. and that was wrapped up in a soiled nappy left behind by a large family of Asians.
And to my disgust they completely snubbed me when I asked them if they would put it in a bin.
The rubbish on the other hand is normally a result of heavy tourism which can only be a good thing.
It now seems that another nail in Blackpool's coffin has been hammered in to place as Pontin's have decided enough is enough and are also leaving.
From what i have heard and read pontins were due to relocate but havent been able to find a suitable location in the area. and besides the economic crisis that the whole country seem to be suffering at the moment may be a contributing factor.

I can think of many worse areas in this country that you have to wipe your feet before you leave.
Its judgemental people with innacurate views that contribute to killing of blackpool and insist on tarring its repution without solid facts

I Love Blackpool!!! Its fun, busy in town, I live about 5 mins walk from town but its the quietest place I have ever lived in. (even village life was noisier than here lol) I just love it here. Actually feel like I have have found somewhere I can call home. I have moved so many times over the years, usually after 6 months Im ready to go again, been here 18 months and still loving it... :-)

a big plus is that when the tide goes out
(which it does twice a day )
there are acres and acres of beach where you can run, walk, get excercise and breath in the fresh, salty air.
back in the 1950s Stan Mathews took advantage of all that golden sand and was out there training with a football every day.
St Annes too has miles and miles of space at low tide.

Likewise, I moved last April from the midlands and it was sheer fate. I didn't think my house would be sold but hey it did after 3 months on the market. I have been looking everywhere for large interesting apartments/flats using right move (internet - wonderful eh!) and have visited Rhyl, Colwyn Bay, Great Yarmouth, Skegness, Margate and Blackpool. Yes, all these towns have similar problems - run down.
Eventually I bought this high rise seafront apartment and I am enjoying the panoramic seaview watching the tides come and go. Not only that I can see the North pier which I enjoyed the fireworks recently also the air display last summer.
Anyway I agree Blackpool is best because it's iconic with most entertaining, eventful and interesting seafront town

you are a lucky man with that view ( a few photos would be nice ) you cant be too far away from the shops either
wonder what would have happened if Blackpool would have won that gambling franchise ? how would things have changed ?
