I have just watched this programme and I am utterly disgusted and annoyed at the two guys that have featured in it.

The two Guys have taken over the old Kenbarry hotel in the resort and have renamed the place "The Blackpool". To say the place is an utter shambles owned by two outside know it alls is to say the least

On several occasions throughout the programme they made bad cooments about the resort. one referring to the logo on thier new canopy,s It was a diomond with the letters T B either side and the guy turned around and said " well it shows we are a diamond in the rough"

Yes Blackpool has its downside , but at least the issues are now being addressed and rectified by the local authorities , Sadly we cant say the same from the advice they were given in the programme.


Well Im sorry mister that you think so ill of our town. If it offends you so much then maybe you should take your ignorant opinions and bad ideas back to where you came from and leave us and our town alone.

This is certainly one hotel that I wont be reccomending to friends Oh and just for the record from the last comment . I doubt your hotel will EVER reach the grade of becoming the best in town.

I watched the program too. OK so I dont run a hotel but I do run Holiday Flats in South Shore so I think I know the market reasonably well.
The 2 guys are in cloud cuckoo land. I think Ruth made some good suggestions but also some very poor ones. To me the canopies need to come down to make the dining room nice and bright and getting rid of all the clutter is a must. With all that clutter you cant keep things clean.
They then needed to concentrate on the dining room and the bedrooms. The Spa stuff was, as she said an extra. The Spa guy worked on Cruise ships where you have a closed market and have captive people.

I am glad the Visit Britain guy stayed in a 'typical' room and therefore didnt even give them 1 star. They dont deserve 1 star. Technically they could be a hotel as they have a restaurant and a bar but the standards are higher to achieve the star ratings than it is to achieve the same star as a guest house.

Overall they needed money to modernise but make it a clean, comfortable hotel then add the spar treatments.
They really didnt have a clue, but then again a huge amount of people think they can run a hotel but it is a 24/7 vocation. It is very hard work.

One BIG thing Ruth never mentions is, to me, the second most important. That is marketing, its no good having the best hotel in the world if no one knows you exist.

The Blackpool's web site is very poor, lots of missing images and poor spelling. Looks very unprofessional.

I too watched this and couldn't quite believe it, when I was told yesterday, that they still haven't done any more renovations or refurbishment to the hotel since the "grand re-opening" way back in June. It's still the same in the other 29 rooms, as it was when the guy from Visit England stayed!!!
