Blackpool Police are to test everyone who is arrested for SmartWater traces! SmartWater is a chemical with a dna like code that glows under ultraviolet light. It stays on skin and hair for weeks and cloths for months. If any SmartWater is discovered the source can be identified from the code.

In Bexley (South London) burglary has fallen by 75%.
The test area was 25 Belvedere streets during the 1 year trial burglary's fell by 75%.

Impressive figures but how many people are using SmartWater in Blackpool?
While I was aware of the technology I had no idea it was a yearly subscription of about £60 per year from a 4 bedroom house.

I hope it has a big effect in Blackpool.

The enthusiasm and passion they have for their cars is not something I recognise in myself at all but found myself admiring their commitment.
See the video on Saturday eve www.tvblackpool.com
There is another chance to see some of the cars at fairhaven lake next weekend I believe. For more details see the vid

Well I have some info about the new Niclelodeon Kids area in the Pleasure Beach. First off is is due to open in April 2011, it will occupy 6 acres, including the old Beaver Creak, Sapce Invader2 and the Pub next to Space Invader 2. It looks like the Roller Coaster will be removed although on the image I have seen it looks like the Roller Coaster may stay. The Image shows the about half of the Roller Coaster track that goes behind Space Invader 2 and round the Chinese Maze to still be there. So Roller Coaster may or may not still be there come April.
The literature I have states that there will be 14 exciting attractions, 9 of which are new.

Alcohol - Governments Demonisation

To start with I will freely admit I enjoy a drink at the weekend. I have a few beers over the weekend while watching tv. I believe the 'recommended'...

To start with I will freely admit I enjoy a drink at the weekend. I have a few beers over the weekend while watching tv. I believe the 'recommended' maximum alcohol intake for a man is 21 units per week.

So here is what is annoying me:
The Government have started a campaign to demonise alcohol with the view of increasing prices.
They are publishing misleading figures on alcohol related deaths the same as they did with motorists speeding. What I mean is that yes excessive alcohol will cause death, I will agree with that.

What I see as the Gov fiddling statistics is when the 'alcohol related deaths' figures include deaths from a range of 40 conditions including high blood pressure or assault.

My Mum is tea total but has high blood pressure. So according to the 40 conditions if she died of a high blood pressure related condition like a heart attack. Her death would be classed as 'Alcohol Related!'.

These Government 'statistics' are being used to hit the poor in their pockets by raising alcohol duty way beyond reasonable levels.

Notice in the Gov statistics they dont mention how much revenue/income they earn from alcohol vs how much it actually costs NHS and Police. I wonder why???

I wonder how many people also know that the House of Commons and Lords for that matter have 'duty free' bars!!!! So any increases in duty wont effect them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What are your thoughts?

Switching Energy Suppliers

You may realise you can get better deals on your gas and electricity bills but did you know that there are very strict rules on how you can be sold new energy contracts?
Ofgem brought in new regulations at the end of last year aimed at tightening up the sales process. The new requirements included:

supplying a customer with an estimate before any face-to-face sales are concluded

giving, in most cases, a comparison between the new offer and the customer's current deal

actively preventing mis-selling to customers on the doorstep and over the telephone.

Currently Npower, Scottish Power, Scottish and Southern Energy, and EDF Energy are all being investigated over complaints of breaches of the new Ofgem rules.

So be aware when you are approached by phone or on the door step that it may be best to shop around on your own to find the best deal for you.

Blackpool Zoo on the other hand have seen their busiest day of their entire history on August Bank holiday Monday.
Blackpool Zoo have been investing in the zoo and this year alone have refurbished the Sea Lion pool, refurbished doesn't do the new Sea Lion pool justice you really have to see it in all its glory, created a new aardvark outdoor area and the wallaby walkabout. They have also recently had 3 very small Otters born.

If you haven't visited Blackpool Zoo for a while I suggest you pay them a visit. Its a great day out.
